A couple things. Did you know his pseudonym Edmond Dantes is actually the Count of Monte Cristo?
Home Alone is silly, but it's still a modern classic. Yeah, the parents deserve to go to jail, but it's the gimmick of the movie. If you don't swallow that the police will let them off the hook.....TWICE......then this movie is not for you. I loved it.
There is no Miracle on 34th Street remake. I've never seen it and I refuse to believe it exists. The original was one I went to every year as a kid and try to get to every year as an adult.
You guys skipped Career Opportunities. Maybe you never saw it. 21 year old Jennifer Connelly stuck in a Target with the luckiest overnight janitor in the world. A relationship develops and then a couple of bumbling crooks show up to rob the store. No, it wasn't Harry and Marv. Also there's a John Candy cameo as the manager of the Target.
Also, Some Kind of Wonderful is a great movie. Andy should see it. It's essentially the same plot as Pretty in Pink, but reversed. Eric Stoltz is Molly Ringwald, Mary Stuart Masterson is Jon Cryer, and Lea Thompson is Andrew McCarthy. However *SPOILER ALERT* where Pretty in Pink has the crap ending where Andie totally blows off Duckie to be with shallow Blaine, Some Kind of Wonderful lets the best friend win in the end. John Hughes apparently wanted Duckie to end up with Andie but the audiences preferred her to end up with Blaine, so the studios made him change it. So a year later, he pretty much remade it and did the ending he wanted.
Favorite John Hughes movie? I love John Candy in Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Uncle Buck, but I have got to go with Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Every single scene in that movie is gold.
